On June 9, 2011, the “International Integration Lecture” was held with the theme “Historical Evolution of Oil Contracts – Some Legal Ramifications for Macondo after contracting the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The presentation made by Prof. Dr. Owen L. Anderson, one of the greatest experts in the field of petroleum, was organized by the Institute of Electrotechnics and Energy (IEE) and the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo (USP).

IBDE (Brazilian Institute of Energy Law Studies), one of the event’s supporters, was represented by its president Camila Araújo, partner at Araújo and Policastro Advogados who was part of the debate panel.

The event brought together professors, researchers and other professionals to debate the evolution of contracts for the sale of exploration rights in the oil and natural gas industries and the latest developments in oil contracts influenced by the Macondo accident.
